Dallas/Tulsa Trip

Our first stop is at our nephew Austin and Edie's house, where we stayed 2 nights. We had a delicious dinner of steak and "fixings" - plus 2 great birthday cakes, because it was Nancy's birthday, May 3rd. Niece Jennifer and Katy join us.

They were both as delicious as they look!

On Saturday morning, we go to great nephew Wyatt's baseball game (Jennifer's son). Wyatt is ready for his first time at bat. He gets a hit, steals 2 bases and gets a run on another hit. That was their 2nd score and the last one in the game. They were playing a much better team for their first time in this higher league and so lost.

We go to dinner at Mimi's Restaurant. Left to right are Wyatt, Jennifer, brother Phil, John, Nancy, nephew Shawn (Phil's son) and Katy. Wish we had one of these restaurants. I had one of the best Cobb Salad's and then we were served 3 types of homemade bread and our choice of many flavors of their great muffins - about the size of a softball! Yum!

After a great evening with Brother Phil and Sister-in-law Gloria, we go to McKinney on Sunday. We meet Bob and Marye (Bob was John's A & M roommate) and Gwen and John Holton (who we met on our January cruise) for lunch at the Olive Garden. The Poteets had us over for dessert and a great visit. Left to right are Bob, Gwen and John Holton, John and Marye.

John and Bob relax reading. Maybe they are studying as they did 60 years ago at Texas A & M!

On Monday, we go up to the Poteet's farm and stay in their cute "bunkhouse". Bob and Nancy are on the porch, having enjoyed a delicious lunch.

Bob is cleaning a sparrow nest our of his martin house. John is ready to catch him if he falls. Who says we are old and can't do things anymore!

A storm had come through and demolished part of Bob's barn. It hadn't hurt anything else - not even the trees.

Three little blue eggs are in a birdhouse.

On Tuesday, we go to Bonham to visit John's aunt. She will be 94 in August. She cooked us good meals, reads, watches TV, can hear well and has a mind as sharp as a tack!

On Wednesday, we go to Tulsa for 3 nights to visit our cousins, Bill and Susie. This is our cute bedroom. Note the skylights in the ceiling. Since they live in an area of beautiful town homes with common walls, this room has no windows. Therefore, the 2 skylights give us plenty of light during the day.

Susie's office has a wall of file cabinets, while Bill's office has a wall of gun cabinets. Each one has a wall of book cases. Bill's military weapon collection is fascinating.

This is their breakfast area. They have a separate open Dining Room, large Living Room and wonderful kitchen plus their Master Bedroom Suite.

Nancy and Bill (We are the same age and we are really color coordinated! Our Grandmother would be impressed!)

You enter their home from this large courtyard. They designed it to resemble a New Orleans courtyard. Many of the red brick had been collected by them years ago.

Every view is a "Kodak Moment"!

Our friends, Pam and Harry Gordon, have us over for dinner in their lovely new home in Tulsa. We were anxious for them to meet our cousins, who actually live nearby.

The Gordons have an open living area, including the large kitchen, the dining area and huge great room. This leads out to their back porch with an outdoor kitchen and stairs down to the large pond ... beautiful trees!

We go over to our cousin Andrew and Audra's house to see their darling 4 boys and their new kitchen remodel. Here is one year old Eli, who has just learned to walk.

The boys are enjoying their cake as an afternoon snack. The wooded lot has a nice downward slope and the boys enjoy playing outside.

The four of us go our to dinner and bring Mavis, Audra's mother. Her father, Jack, was working. They live next door to the "kids" and the houses make a great family "compound". Andrew is going to build a zip line from their house to Mavis and Jack's backyard, which will be a long downhill ride (and a surprise visit!).

Our last stop is at cousin Amanda and Marlon's beautiful home in Forney (east of Dallas).

Sarah and Amanda - beautiful mother and daughter!

Cousins - Bob and John

Their son, Mason - He's really growing, but has a ways to go to reach Cousin John.

Marlon cooks these wonderful steaks, which Bob had brought. They were as delicious as they look!

The 3 gals are in blue - Amanda, Nancy and Sarah. Since Clayton spent most of his time in his room playing computer games with his friends over the Internet, we didn't get a picture, but he's a darling boy too. We are treated to a big country breakfast and head home. What a great trip and what a great family!
