The Frio Trip

The river is up, the road is covered in water and the Frio is flowing after a 6" rain and a 6' rise the weekend before.  On Saturday, everyone turns out to tube the river.  We have 2 cabins at our wonderful Seven Bluffs Cabins.  Elizabeth and Jay have one of the new cabins that is near the river.  Besides themselves, they have Jay's sister, Mary Sue, her daughter Riley and Riley's friend Susie, Tim and Chelsea, Patrick and his friends Seth and John and 5 dogs!  Joe with his dog Schnitzel stays with his friends at the Neal's cabins.  Nancy and John are in Cabin 1 and it is twice as big as the duplex where they usually stay.

Jay takes his position in the water on Saturday and Tim joins him in his float.

Patrick and John join them.

As the sun moves, Tim and Jay move to the other side of the river.

Hundreds of "tubers" unload and float the river

Kayakers too...

Chelsea and Elizabeth enjoy the sun and watching the activity.

Nancy too... (She put both feel in the water once and declared it too cold!)

The beautiful new swimming pool should be open soon.  The rains delayed the completion.  This will be a great place for children too small to tube the river since it has such a large shallow area.

The nice area across the river and closer to the road is privately owned, but managed by the owners of 7 Bluffs and can be used by people staying there or people paying to park.  These groups had to  move down the river.  It was nice not to have so many groups directly across from us.

Riley and Susie get ready to tube.

Riley is "on her way".

The guys follow - John, Seth and Patrick

And there they go!  They've parked a car down the river so they can load up and drive back.  They reported a great ride!

Each evening we gather around the fire pit.  Tim plays his guitar, Jay keeps the fire going and Nancy "poses".

John cooks our dinner.

The McGoverns stay in one of the new cabins.  It's close to the water, has a great arrangement and beautiful view.

The big bluff is seen in the background.  There are 4 new cabins along here - 3 the same size and the one on the left is much larger.  We met the people in the cabin with the orange tubes.  There were 3 moms with lots of high school kids.  Elizabeth actually knew 1 of the moms.  They invited us to come over for the bonfire the last night for Tim to play the guitar.  They they passed out hot, freshly made cookies.  Yum, yum!  Can't beat Fun on the Frio!

Chelsea organizes her work week.  She has 2 geology jobs going plus her photography, gardening, cooking, etc.

Nancy poses while Elizabeth works in the kitchen.  (She is quite good at "posing"!)

Seth and Patrick begin their dinner.

John joins them.

Riley, their cousin, and her friend Susie are also UT students.

Coco hopes that some food drops on the floor.
