North Texas

We meet Nancy's brother, Phil, at the Cheesecake Factory near Dallas.

Nancy and "Bup" (the family name for Phil)

We visit Bob and Mary Poteet in McKinney and get to share our 57th Wedding Anniversaries together. We arrive on May 29th, our anniversary and stay over May 30th, which is their anniversary. John was Bob's roommate at A & M. We had many a fun weekend as the 4 of us gathered in College Station and it's great to be able to continue the fun. This is the beautiful deck at the side of their home.

Their home is in a beautiful area of McKinney. The entrance to the addition looks like you are going down a wooded country road.

Besides this deck, they have a bridge going over a culvert to more land on the other side.

John and Bob have many stories to tell of their college days and beyond.

The next day we drive 45 minutes north to their ranch. They are proud of their A & M heritage!

Mary poses outside their bunk house - quite a home away from home. The roses are blooming - thanks to Mary's watering and care. Both of their homes are decorated in Early American Country style and that makes guests feel comfortable and relaxed.

Note the cute sprinkler in this rosebed.

Between an Engineer and a Rancher, they rig up a way to clean out the Martin house without much physical effort!

Bob raises mainly Brangus cattle (half Black Angus and half Braymer). They come running when he calls. They have 100 acres of beautiful, well tended land.

This Bodart tree was knocked over by a storm and so they have another project. They wrenched the broken half back in place and Bob wants to see if the tree will stay alive. Now he has some fences to fix.

We enjoyed all of our meals out on their porch, which wraps around 3 sides of the Bunk House.
Bonham

We visit John's Aunt Lois Arledge in Bonham.

She now lives in this lovely duplex.

She fed us a great homemade supper of chicken spaghetti, spinach, almond and strawberry salad and cherry crunch pie. Breakfast consisted of sausage, redeye gravy, bacon, and biscuits. Lunch was pulled pork sandwiches, chips, and more dessert. Wonder how we've gained so much weight on this little trip! Impossible to believe that she will be 92 years in August. She's up on the current news in everything, loves to read, can see and hear and has no signs of being elderly. She is all of this and yet had cancer, a hip replacement and an eye disease. Hope our family can take after her!
Forney

We drove south to Forney, which is east of Dallas. Here is Amanda and Marlon's new home. They have bought several large lots in their subdivision and so have a pond that is stocked with fish, a garden and LOTS of room for outdoor activities.
