Big D Trip - 2008

We spent the night with Aaron and Jane Thomas in Waco. Met the Penningtons for a great dinner at the Texas Road House.

Brown Family Reunion in Gatesville

Catherine and John Fulton host the group at their home. We had barbecue brisket, sausage and ham, breakfast sweets, veggies of all types and more sweets than we could even taste! Next year the reunion will be the Memorial Day weekend.

This is a pastel drawing of Captain John Marshall Brown, the great-grandfather of all the kin.
The Holloway Cousin Reunion in Dallas

We met in the breakfast area of our hotel for a Saturday night get together. Here are Gloria Teeling, Nancy, Susie Holloway (standing) and Kitty Mills. Kitty and the Holloways are from Tulsa, while the Teelings live in Dallas.

Chris Holloway (Bill's son, David's, older son) attends graduate school in UT Dallas. Bill Holloway, Phil Teeling and John. We ordered both Chinese food and Pizza plus enjoyed snacks and drinks. The Country Inn was nice to let us use their room.

Austin and Edie Cooper join us. Austin is Nancy and Phil's nephew. He and Edie live in Benbrook, which is part of Fort Worth.

On Sunday, we ate brunch at the Gaylord Texan. This entire River Walk with restaurants, hotel and Convention Center is inside a domed building. Our grandson, Andy McGovern, joined us from University of North Texas. Left to right are John and Nancy, Susie and Bill, Kitty, Chris, Phil and Gloria and Andy.

The same group, but the man, who is standing with the black hat and suit, is a magician. He did tricks with coins and cards and was really entertaining. We also had a music group close by to add to the outdoor feel. It was hard to believe that we were actually inside. However, it was a good thing because it was chilly and rainy outside.

Kitty bought the cute black hat at a shop here. She posed with Chris.

The Tulsa crew headed back and we enjoyed walking around the area. Here are Phil, Andy, John and Gloria.

This is a guitar with a miniature train set running around on it. There was a large miniature village with trains. Phil and Gloria had spent a weekend here at Christmas (a gift from son Greg) and they said the decorations were spectacular.

We meet the Arledges

We met the Arledges at the Salt Grass Restaurant on Monday. Here is John with Amanda and Marlon's 2 boys: Mason and Clayton.

We celebrated Clayton's birthday with strawberry cheesecake.

He enjoyed the strawberries.

John and Mason make "rabbit ears".

Sarah Arledge and daughter, Amanda White. Three "rabbit ears"!!!

Nancy is with Bob Arledge, who is skinny, having lost 64 pounds this year. Bob and Sarah are getting ready for a great trip to Venice and cruise around that area to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
Tuesday with Jennifer

We checked out of our hotel and went to Jennifer's home in Frisco.

After some great Mexican food, we picked up Wyatt and Katy from school.

They both had gymnastics at this great facility. We sat upstairs so we could watch them. Katy is getting ready to do a flip (lower left). (The glass shows some shadows.)

She crawls on a balance beam.

She just gets off of the twin bars and is standing on the blue steps.

Her "bum" is in the air as she flips over this pole. The instructor gives her a hand.

This is a long trampoline and Katy jumps down the "path".

Wyatt is getting chalk on his hands so he can climb and swing.

Wyatt is in the back arc of his swing. His coach watches closely.

He's on the bar.

At home Wyatt and Uncle John played basketball.

2 points!!!

Katy dribbled her ball.

Katy gave Aunt Nancy instructions.

Another 2 points ... Ha!!

Wednesday with Austin and Edie
We spent two nights with Austin and Edie in Fort Worth. Although the weather was a little windy, we went out in their new boat. It is a beauty and they have it in a marina close to their home in Benbrook.

John drives for awhile.

Nancy has climbed down in the front compartment. We didn't take the cover off of the front, which has lots of seating.

This a view of the front seating under the top.

The covers are in place and we had a great ride.
